About Me

My name is Sonya Booker and I have been a registered nurse for over 30 years.  While I was attending the University of Virginia Nursing School, I was diagnosed with Cushing’s Disease. It is an over secretion of the stress hormone, cortisol, caused by a pituitary tumor.  This experience taught me that stress is key to many of our health problems. It also has a huge impact on a person’s health.  My perspective on health is holistic and I believe our spirit, soul and body interact to offer us optimal health.  Health is a lifestyle where healthy habits need to be consistent to see long lasting results.    My experience has included working in various areas within healthcare. I have led in multiple arenas such as critical care, emergency medicine, and health insurance. My experience spans from case and disease management to wellness and prevention.  However, it was during my experience as a RN Health coach. There, I discovered my passion for helping people navigate through today’s healthcare system. I also enjoyed coaching people on their journey to abundant health to prevent disease.  I have created and taught health education classes and workshops for over 20 years.   After obtaining my Master of Arts in Leadership from Shorter University, I became even more passionate. I wanted to collaborate with people to show them how to become leaders of their own health.
